Allen Dean

                  Allen Dean

Allen has been a musician since the Christmas when he was 10 years old. He spent the majority of that November and all of December begging his mom and dad for a guitar, promising not go give it up, or have it be a passing phase.

Much like the Brian Adams song, he indeed played until his fingers bled, learning by ear only. Taking the albums, yes, plastic albums of his heroes, Hendrix, Sabbath, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Kiss, he became a student of the greatest rock bands the world had to offer!

When the bay area thrash scene hit, he was in central California, eating it all up, soaking in influences like Megadeth, Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Loudness, Exodus, Slayer, as well as a host of punk bands from Suicidal Tendencies to the Sex Pistols.

Playing in a few garage bands as a guitarist, his true calling came in the form of some friends who needed a singer. He was asked to fill in for a house party, and asked if he could write about 8 songs worth of lyrics in two days. No sweat!

Homing in on the vocal styles of Halford, Tate, Dio, as well as the high pitched wailing of King Diamond, he found singing to be his true calling. So, even though he told mom and dad he would not give up guitar, he traded it for a microphone.

Several years, several bands, and several states later, he found himself back in California, without a band, and without the desire to start all over again...  dealing with undedicated and unprofessional personnel. Having taken a 10 year hiatus, he went back to his first love...the  guitar.

In 2006, sidelined due to a back injury, he amassed a simple home studio based on the Macintosh format. He began writing a concept cd, the Razor’s Kiss.

After posting some tunes on the World Wide Web, he met Jason Whitman, a rocker with a common musical background. Finding several common threads between their musical styles and writing, he began what continues to be a fulfilling and productive musical showcase of talent and hard rock mayhem.

It is also worth mentioning that Allen’s song ‘Holes’ received the honorary spot of “Song of the Day” on GarageBand.com. This is truly a rare honor!
